Week Four Kansas City Chiefs Takeaways

They came to life not a minute too late and showed why they’re the NFL’s last remaining undefeated team at 4-0 by holding Washington to a field goal on that drive and then winning 29-20.

Pryor opened the scoring with his 44-yard touchdown reception, the Chiefs announced guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif suffered a game-ending knee injury and Hopkins’ field goal made it 10-0 through the first three possessions. Although Achilles Heel injuries have plagued Doctson, he caught a pass last week and ran for 52 yards. The Washington Redskins ground game is averaging 136.3 yards per contest, and Chris Thompson leads the way with 119 yards and two touchdowns.

The NFL’s leading rusher collected 101 yards on 21 carries, with 78 yards coming in the second half. They will look to continue their hot start against the Washington Redskins on Monday night. On the game’s final play, Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston scored a touchdown on a fumble return.

The Chiefs opened up the new National Football League season by shocking everyone by not only defeating the New England Patriots, but demolishing them handily 42-27. With the great new impact players they have in Kansas City, it would be fantastic to see the Chiefs take the city to new heights, places where the Chiefs haven’t been since the first ever Super Bowl. The reason Kansas City is going to be on top in most of the power rankings this week is the Chiefs are so well coached, can beat you in all three phases and have a QB who understands how to close games at the professional level.

Quarterback Alex Smith has been excellent, knowing he has rookie Patrick Mahomes breathing down his neck.

“You just never know with a young back like that what type of vision, what type of contact balance he’d have until they get in the game and you give them the ball”, Gruden said. Defensively, Kansas City is allowing 19 points and 369 yards per game. He wants consistency. If they can force turnovers and get off the field on third downs as they did last week, the unit will make a big statement. Redskins CB Josh Norman will try to keep the Chiefs offense honest. The computer is taking the Chiefs to cover the spread, and the under on the point total.

Washington has yet to play a game this season where they hit the over. HC Andy Reid has done a good job finding ways to get Hill the ball in space, so I would expect a big play or two out of him in this Monday night matchup.

Situated in different conferences, the Redskins and Chiefs rarely play each other. The Chiefs could have kicked to make it 30-20, which would have made the total go over 49 and surpass the total at nearly all books. What’s more is how great Washington’s defensive line performed against the Raiders offensive line.

The Washington Redskins have surprised me this season after losing a lot of key players in the offseason and still beating decent teams, especially with their recent beat down over the Oakland Raiders.
