Crops are ready to harvest and those remaining in the area are prospective nominees of forced labour since the Rohingya farmers left the state.

“They arrive exhausted, hungry and usually with nothing more than the clothes on their back, having walked for days and then braved a risky river or sea crossing”. The majority were children.

Bishop Vasquez also expressed frustration with Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar’s leader, for not being “publicly very vocal about the plight of these Muslims from Rakhine state”.

Tuesday’s rally brought together a mix of faiths who back the Nobel laureate and her National League for Democracy (NLD), which helped organise the event.

“We deeply regret the reaction from worldwide countries based on the news without truth”, said the lawmaker.

The initial phase of the vaccination campaign will target more than 650,000 people aged one year and older, while the second part will begin at the end of this month and aim to cover some 250,000 children between the ages of 1 and 5.

According to reports, there are thousands of unaccompanied Rohingya minors orphaned or separated from their families.

Cholera was a major killer in Bangladesh until in the 1970s, but the country has seen major improvements in sanitation facilities since then.

The Rohingyas are not recognised by Myanmar as its citizens and are called Bengali by them.
