In case you’ve been living in the upside-down for the last few weeks, the second season of “Stranger Things” is imminent. The second season of Stranger Things will become available on Netflix starting October 27. Today, out of nowhere, the streaming service dropped a 16-bit free-to-play adventure game for Android and iOS, based on season one of the hit show. Featuring all the main characters from the series, players have to collect Eggos and Gnomes while utilising each character’s abilities to solve various puzzles.

BonusXP, Inc. Sure, they had heaps of time to explore the woods but didn’t have five minutes to look for Barb?! (The icon is even an old-school cartridge.) It plays out like a top-down action-adventure, with a pixel art style reminiscent of games like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. But when you have that as your gold (standard), and you know that’s the way it should be … It has also been previously revealed that Stranger Things Season 2 will have a darker theme with more horror, according to Finn Wolfhard, the actor who plays Mike. Lucas has his Wrist Rocket.

Whether or not more Stranger Things video games are released remains to be seen, but this new mobile game is a good start.

The video streaming service chose to whet fans’ appetite by releasing the mobile game free of charge and devoid of any microtransactions. Something of a blessing for a touchscreen controlled game.

The sound effects and graphics are created to pull you into a lush 1980s video game reverie, but the exploration of settings and story aspects give it a more expansive, modern feel. Similar to the Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis, players will control pixelated versions of our favorite Stranger Things characters.
