With round one of the AFC playoffs out of the way, the Jacksonville Jaguars have now turned their attention to a familiar foe in the Pittsburgh Steelers for a divisional round playoff game that will be a must-see for the nation. That would be more of a concern in the Jaguars used running backs in the passing game or had a dominant pass catching tight end. It also emphasized an ongoing issue over the last few years, one that has cost the Steelers games.
“We’re going to play [the Patriots] again”, Mitchell told Sports Illustrated. They’re in our way and we’re in their way. We didn’t have our A-game.
Pittsburgh will focus on stopping Jags running back Leonard Fournette and make Jacksonville quarterback Blake Bortles beat them. “We’re going to win”. We want to be balanced. That’s the best way to try and attack the Jaguars. How did the Steelers manage their salary cap while retaining so many high-caliber players? This is the first time Jacksonville has qualified for the postseason since the 2006 season. Among them are their run fits, which is why they are ranked 26th in rush yards per attempt.
A groin injury that required offseason surgery forced him to exit the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots early.
It is a bit odd to see Bell nearly do a complete 180 from the comments he made earlier in the day.
That’s fair. But I will offer a counterpoint that I feel is stronger.
Steelers safety Mike Mitchell – you may know him from his time going viral in December – is 100 percent confident that not only will his team take on the Patriots next week. He’s the best player in the trenches – that’s saying something considering the year DeCastro has had.
“It’s a great place for me to be, especially with me having so many touches over the course of the year”. Missing from this year’s playoffs are the blue bloods we have become accustomed to seeing in the postseason. “We have three games left”.
Blake Bortles ran for more yards than he threw for last weekend against the Bills, leading the team to a 10-3 victory in a game that was unwatchable at times. In that game, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had one of the worst games of his career, throwing five interceptions, including two that the Jaguars returned for touchdowns.
Fans can write well-wishes on a send-off banner at City Hall and share their team spirit with City Council members, Jaxson de Ville, THE ROAR of the Jaguars and Jax Pack from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Friday. “Our work will be cut out for us keeping them contained and hopefully giving them some things that can cause them some problems”.
Haley thinks they’ve gotten better because of that day.
SERIES HISTORY: 25th all-time meeting.
Much like they were in the first matchup, the Steelers are heavy favorites over the Jaguars.
Another counter is this: While it does matter how good the defense and running game is for the Jaguars, Bortles will most likely have to make a few throws of outcome in this game. Both Smith and Posluszny missed the Jaguars Wednesday practice. But it must be remembered that Shazier made a surprise appearance at Heinz Field to wave a towel and inspire the home crowd – and the home team.
If the Steelers’ defense can pressure him, Bortles will continue to struggle and it will likely cost his team the game. Each game plan must have balance and each play must set up the next. “Obviously, we had the trade with Marcell Dareus coming here and that obviously helped”.
